I was recently asked how we can measure the impact that Greater Good Radio has on the business community. In actuality, we can only know by the feedback we receive. That same day I received an email from Gail Jennings, President of HawaiiDiner.com thanking us for our program which helped them integrate a social mission with their business.
Their program is called EverybodyEats.org and ties in the business model of HawaiiDiner.com while helping the thousands of food insecure households (FIH) in Hawaii. According to FRAC.org, 9.9% of Hawaii households were food insecure between 2001-2003.
HawaiiDiner.com is a collection of restaurant reviews, information, discounts, recipes and the like. Jennings estimates over 1 million web visitors in the next year. Revenues for HawaiiDiner.com are derived from advertising on their website. Advertisers pay a monthly fee to participate and 25% of their fee gets donated directly to the Hawaii Food Bank (HFB). Jennings mentioned that every dollar donated to HFB can be turned into over $20 dollars in food.
"The concept has worked so well that we doubled our revenue in the first few months of the program," said Jennings.
For our FIH, hopefully they double again.
