Kenwei Chong, Co-owner and manager of E&O Trading Hawaii wants a holistic approach to philanthropic giving.

Since his return to Hawaii in 2001, Chong has joined several organizations including the Hawaii Theatre and the GIFT Foundation of Hawaii to give back as much to the community as possible.

"I have always told myself and my wife that being back here in Hawaii I probably have the capacity (to be) involved with two non-profit organizations if I am going to make a difference and be effective at all," he said.   "And so, having been involved in Hawaii Theatre, kind of, fulfilled my sense of cultural philanthropy."

And to complete his goals in terms of non-profit involvement, he joined the GIFT Foundation as a board member in 2003.
Mr. Chong said the GIFT (Giving Inspiration for Tomorrow) Foundation focuses on youth education and wellness by raising annual funds for youth education-oriented charities.

"We thought we can make a greater impact looking at smaller organizations," he said.   "So, part of our mission was to look at organizations that are youth educational and wellness related."

The GIFT foundation has assisted a number of organizations including Ô'hia Productions, Positive Coaching Alliance, Ma'o Farms and College Connections Hawaii.

Besides E&O Trading, Mr. Chong is a former partner and CFO of Box To Go, Llc., the largest self storage and commercial records storage business in
Hawaii, adding to his list of entrepreneurial success.
