Andrew Aoki is archetypal of a true public servant.
He has been working in the social services industry throughout his career. And as if Aoki's time serving others was not enough, he now runs his own business dedicated to combining the social mission of different organizations with the business reality of financial viability.
This is the objective of 3-Point Consulting where Andrew Aoki stands as principal and co-founder. According to Aoki, 3-Point is a way to apply his proclivity towards philanthropy.
He also co-founded College Connections Hawaii, which focuses on providing educational information and counseling to children. They aim at making education accessible to disadvantaged children and families.
Aoki believes that education is an opportunity not a privilege.
"I think there's something fundamentally unfair about society where you can't access education just because you can't afford it," he said. "There's a lot of kids who has got as much or more potential than I have but they can't go to prep class or gather the information they need."
Andrew Aoki finds fulfillment in contentment and living a simple life. Through this, he is able to dedicate more time to helping people.
"I don't need that much. I don't work until I can't work anymore. I don't try to make as much money as I possibly can," he said. "So there's plenty free time if you do that. You have to be super efficient with your time. Make sure you're spending it on the right things."
Besides engaging in community-based business ventures, Andrew Aoki is also a member of Hawaii Women's Coalition, and a board member of Hawaii Community Services Council and National Kidney Foundation.
