Joey Caldarone's passion for the arts extends from a way of living to community-giving.

Caldarone is an actor, painter, singer and interior designer who has helped design a number of multi-million dollar houses in the Diamond Head and Kahala area.

He also serves on the board of Manoa Valley Theater and is involved with Diamond Head Theater, Army Community Theater and The Contemporary Museum.

Joey Caldarone has proved that upbringing is indeed instrumental to one's behavior.

His parents have influenced him to be active in the community.

"I was raised with the notion that if you're taking from the community in some way, like if you're doing business, you also need to do or give back to the community," he said.

But his passion had become detrimental to his entrepreneurial venture.

"At one point I found myself too involved and too lost in some of these organizations and I did have to pull back because my business started to suffer as a result of that," he said. "When you do have a passion for something and someone asks you to do this and that, it is hard to say no."
Since then he has taken a step back and learned to balance work from philanthropy.

"I kind of took a step back and started saying I can't really do this now because of my travel schedule or I'm really busy," Caldarone said.  "In the last six months to a year I have maintained balance between business and philanthropic work."
