Experts say that early childhood development is critical for a child's success in school and in life as a whole. This is the core philosophy that Gina Mangieri, founder of the Cole Academy, considers as the engine of her institution's education mission.
The academy brings good quality, low student-teacher ratio, small classes, a beautiful setting, and safety and security to clients. It also caters to parents as much as to their children, according to Mangieri.
"I wanted to try to bring a school in as close enough proximity to a working parent that they didn't have to make the decisions they would usually have to make," she said. "This way you can drive into town with your kid instead of dropping him off at six and heading in, you can drive all the way in, drop him off at 7:30, get to work at 7:35, leave close to 6."
"That's a good long day at the office and you can really show your employer I'm a parent but I'm a good worker, too," Mangieri added.
Despite being a busy career person and businesswoman, Gina Mangieri actively engages in community giving.
After the devastating tsunami in South Asia in December 2004, Mangieri launched the South Asia Keiki Aloha fund drive - with The Cole Academy serving as a clearinghouse for Hawaii gifts to UNICEF. The fund raised more than $20,000 in its first two days of operation.
Today, the total is near $50,000 - UNICEF's largest school achievement in the nation.
