Pacific Edge founders and publishers, Naomi Hazelton and Jamie Giambrone not only found a unique niche market, they also created a valuable service for the small but thriving business community in the State.
Their business-oriented publication focuses on young professionals aged 22-39, which Naomi says is a viable demographic target in print media, especially that no other magazine features this age group exclusively. By doing so, the couple is able to establish a public sphere where entrepreneurs can interact and exchange ideas, thus helping to develop a stronger business community in Hawaii.
"The interesting aspect is that many of the young professionals that have been featured have either phoned us personally, or emailed us and stated, "Oh my goodness, I can't believe you got this into the hands of so and so, they phoned me and we're now doing business," Hazelton said.
Pacific Edge Magazine also works with Wianae High school grades 10 to 12 students through Seariders Production, where individuals get hands on training in print media.
"We're looking to give back by working with the students in laying out some pages, possibily doing some editorial writing, so that they can get their stuff published and actually be in the Hawaii mainstream media," Jamie Giambrone said.
Hazelton and Giambrone are also looking at bringing together young executives and public schools students to engage in career mentorship through what they dub as Pacific Edge Executive Relationships Society or PEERS.
