We Sell Things 4U demonstrates that there is always a way for businesses and business owners to practice social entrepreneurship regardless of their commercial activity.
Founder and owner of WST4U, Tiffany Tanaka, lives up to her philanthropical promise by helping non-profit organizations raise funds by liquidating material goods. The EBay store has worked with the Salvation Army and various Hawaii-based schools.
WST4U's community initiative is an extension of their business activity. According to Tiffany, her store charges less for donated items in order for non-profits to get the most out of their sale. Being web-based also proves effective by exposing the products to a larger online market
"For non-profit organizations we do the same thing but we go down to the location and help them pick out items for them to sell at a more reasonable price," she said. "All they need to do is call us and we go down to the location to check out the items which will be best to sell on EBay or they can come to us and bring down the items and we'll research it there."
"Either way we try to make it the most convenient for our customers," she added.
An alumnus of the University of San Francisco, Tiffany moved back from the mainland to Hawaii hoping to land a spot in fashion and design. With the unavailability of jobs in the industry, she started selling items on EBay for his friends and family which gave birth to WST4U in 2003.
