Ritchie Mudd ascertains a lot of good things emerge from willingness to learn and dedication to one's duties. It is these personal attributes that have contributed to Ritchie's success as an entrepreneur.
Coming to Hawaii in the 70s, he started working as a waiter for Victoria Station Restaurant. Inexperienced but driven, Ritchie co-founded his roofing and building supply business in 1983, starting with a 20" container as their office. Not letting his lack of experience and knowledge in business get in his way, Ritchie pushed on his entrepreneurial road which eventually lead to forming the largest and only locally operated roofing and building supply business in the state of Hawaii.
Ritchie said that joining organizations and building effective social networks were crucial in business and individual growth, especially in a seemingly closely-knit society like Hawaii.
"It's really advantageous to be in the right organizations where you can meet a lot of people," he said. "Whether it's a church or volunteering at a little league team or in your business organization, its something that I think is really good for business and it probably personally is good for you also."
"It kind of broadens your life and broadens the people you know here," he added
Ritchie Mudd is a proud member of the Building Industry Association and Young President's Organization, among many others.
