Lokahi and Central Pacific Bank Team Up Again During Holidays

For the fourth consecutive holiday season, Central Pacific Bank is partnering with KHON2 to help thousands of needy families in Hawaii through the Lokahi Giving Project.  On December 1, Central Pacific Bank will have over a hundred volunteers participating in the statewide Lokahi drive.  This will include bank volunteers at major mall events and as fishnet collectors.

The Lokahi Giving Project provides people with the opportunity to relieve the burden of struggling individuals and families, especially the working "gap group," through donations of goods, cash equivalents, enriching experiences, and advocacy.

Established in 1985 by former newscaster Leslie Wilcox and Mariellen Jones, Lokahi has given a "hand up" to hundreds of thousands of children, elderly, underprivileged men and women during very difficult times.

Lokahi helps Hawaii's struggling families by providing them with life's basic necessities, emergency financial assistance, and brighter holiday seasons. It lends a helping hand to those who face a life crisis or emergency situation beyond their control. It not only assists the poorest of the poor, but also those who need a helping hand who do not qualify for assistance from any other programs.

Working hand-in-hand with more than 125 non-profits, social service agencies, shelters, group homes, and hospitals, Lokahi helps the most deserving families and individuals.

The public can support Lokahi families by dropping off unwrapped gifts or making a cash donation at any of Central Pacific Bank's 39 branches statewide.  Monetary donations can be made at any of the branches.  Cash donations will be accepted until December 31.

Participants may look for the red Lokahi "Gift Collection" sleigh at all Central Pacific Bank traditional branches to drop off unwrapped gifts.  Popular gift items include new toys, books, household items, such as linens, housewares, small appliances and baby items.  Gift drop-off period is until December 21.
In 2006, Central Pacific Bank collected over $184,000 in gifts and monetary donations at their branches.  Many Central Pacific Bank employees are also continuing a tradition of supporting Lokahi's Adopt-A-Family program.

The success of the Lokahi Project is the result of many team and individual efforts.

Mahalo to all who have helped make Lokahi a success over the years!
