Jon de Mello owns The Mountain Apple Company, dubbed by Billboard Magazine as the strongest independent recording company in the industry. Jon's musical prowess is attested by being the first producer from a Hawaii record label to achieve an RIAA certified Gold Record in 2002, a feat he repeated as a Platinum Record awardee in 2005.

As music producer, Jon brought Israel Kamakawiwo'ole to the limelight, in Hawaii and to the whole world defined by a diverse musical atmosphere. Jon was instrumental in the Grammy Awards, adding that he and his company represented 3 out of the 5 nominees in the Hawaiian Music category in 2005.

An accomplished musician and a powerhouse in the music industry, one would never have thought that Jon de Mello had a gallery of his own paintings - now valued at thousands of dollars. It is the real artist in Jon that has brought him to achieve many that most of us could only dream of.

Besides music, Jon also has a passion for business and dealing with people. His entrepreneurial spirit stems from his father's adeptness in trade and industry. Growing up in a 'hui' of business leaders also influenced him in his venture into entrepreneurship.

Jon talks about his community involvement and why we, as a global tribe, need to help one another to sustain our cultural diversity. His sense of philanthropy stems back from his early days as a budding entrepreneur and musician, with his colleagues acting as major influences in his endeavor to uplift the community.

Watch Jon De Mello, CEO of Mountain Apple Company, as he chats with Evan and Kari about his company, relationships, and his heart-warming moments with Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

"He had much more attitude than aptitude - the ability to play his stuff but yet it speaks right to your heart when Israel sings to you now."
