Corporate social responsibility is strong and steadfast in Hawaii as more and more companies engrain a community- and environment-veered mindset in their business philosophy.  One local company specializing in stand up paddle surfboards lives up to this promise by helping in the beautification and conservation of one of Hawaii's most valuable resources - its beaches.

Wet Feet supports Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii, a non-profit volunteer organization concerned with bringing awareness and solutions to the problem of marine debris and litter on Hawaii's beaches.

Wet Feet owners, Doug Lock, Jeff Chang and Karen Lar Rieu, along with their friends and family, have assisted in beach cleanups and provided prizes to the participants, making the event fun and exciting.  The Wet Feet contingent got their hands dirty for the June 8th Kawaikui and July 22nd Makapuu clean-up campaigns.

Doug, Jeff, and Karen are committed to providing the local community with a quality shopping experience for their recreational needs as well as helping hands to keep the community thriving.  According to Doug, understanding the water person lifestyle is what Wet Feet is about and searching for the best products is a passion since they all use the goods themselves.

"Wet Feet is enthusiastic about promoting the ocean-oriented lifestyle," he said.  "Encouraging healthy and fun pursuits contributes to a positive effect on the community."

Wet Feet is happily involved in community service as sponsor of various events and as a business member of the Surfrider Foundation.

On August 25 to 27, Wet Feet joined the World Title of Tandem Surfing as an official partner and sponsor.  In addition to supporting the event financially, Wet Feet provided support for event activities for the contestants and organizers at the shop at the event with a booth on the beach.

"There were literally thousands on the beach watching this physically demanding and artful sport featuring the best teams from all over the world," Doug said.

Recently opened, Wet Feet specializes in stand up paddle surfboards and accessories. Featuring a ready supply of EPS epoxy stand up surfboards on the racks, custom standup paddle boards in four weeks, and 14 models of stand up paddles from seven manufacturers, Wet Feet can outfit the stand up surfer perfectly with anything from a high performance 10-foot-5 fin wing swallow to an open ocean race board with steerable rudder.
